Introduction and Method of the Award
Defeating Cancer with LOVE ‧ Never Give Up
—the Cancer Fighting Wish Scholarship
 
 
    Students who suffer from cancer in the long treatment period, they not only have to stay in the cold and lonely ward, but also cannot go to school and play with classmates. They also need to endure the pain and uncomfortable during the treatment. Their parents need to busy between hospital, home and the office. The expenses of living and medical treatment are heavy burden for them. They need the society gives a hand and accompany these students who have cancer and their family to go through the difficult process of fighting the cancer.

1.Purpose: To encourage students with cancer from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and so on to bravely fight the cancer and to promote the spirit of “love of lives”. At the same time, we establish the “the Cancer Fighting Wish Scholarship” to make an effort for easing the heavy expenses to students with cancer. By awarding scholarship, spread the students’ story of fighting the cancer and encourage more people who are struggling for live.
 
2.Organizer: Chou Ta-Kuan Cultural and Educational Foundation
 
3.Objects:  Students with cancer.
 
4.Scholarship: NT$20,000 for each awardee.
 
5.The resources of scholarship: Funds raised by foundation.
 
6.Categories of application:  
      1.Braveness: those who have enough courage and willpower in disregard of diseases.
      2.Love: share with other patients about the process of fighting cancer and encourage them or other love deeds.
      3.Endeavor: those who make endless efforts to overcome the limitation of endowment with an encouraging spirit.
 
7.Method for recommendation:  
      1.Please use the specified recommendation sheet, and fill the category of application, the process of fighting cancer, or the deeds along with evidenced documents.
     2.The recommendation application shall be enclosed with an autobiography of the candidate (may be written by the parents or recommender on behalf of the candidate, at least 1000 words), including: the story of growing up, the process of fighting cancer, future ambitions and the words or experiences which want to share with society.
      3.Please attach a total of twleve relevant pictures describing the life story of the candidate (including two 2-inch photos and ten 4×6 pictures to capture the life of the candidate).
 
8.Time of recommendation:  From March 1st to July 31st every year.
 
9.Evaluation: an evaluation committee comprising 4-5 members from directors and supervisors of CTK foundation.
 
10.Commendation:
      1.Method 1: CTK Foundation will commend the awardees through public ceremony, the mass media, and Internet in December every year. 
      2.Method 2: About the awardees who are still in the medical treatment at hospital, CTK Foundation will visit the awardees at the appropriate time and provide the scholarship for them.

12.Remarks: this Foundation may select proactively the individuals with special deeds, submit to the evaluation committee for review and then grant awards.
