The Melody of Hope – Chou Ta Kuan Used-Musical Instruments Donation Center

The Vision, Mission, and Action

1.We aim to bridge the gap between urban youths and those youngsters living in remote areas by exchanging and repairing old instruments and giving them new lives.

2.To promote the spirit of young cancer fighter Chou Ta Kuan, a talented violin player bringing harmony to his family by playing the instruments with his younger brother Chou Shang Guan, manifesto the significance of music.

3.The programmes have brough the melody of hope to the most remote places of the world:

After the deadly 1999 Jiji earthquake hit Taiwan, CTK foundation worked with the ministry of education to launch the Used-Musical Instrument Center for collecting and delivering over 6,500 pieces of musical instruments to the schools heavily damaged by the earthquake. To statistics, since then, there have been dozens of musical bands established among 59 schools.

In April 2014, Through Sending Love to Kenya- the center donated 400 instruments to the schools in the slum of Nairobi.

In February 2014, Sending Love to the tail of Taiwan- the centre donated 2,300 pieces of musical instruments to 73 schools in Taiwan.

In 2015, Sending Love to Guatemala- our centre donated 958 instruments to a school in the slum.

In 2016, 1,032 instruments were donated, Sending Love to the school in Matsu, the most remote island of Taiwan.

In 2017, collected 546 musical instruments- Sending Love to Matsu Jie-Shou Junior High School.

From January to May 2018, the centre received 113 musical instrument donations, Sending Love to Chiayi, facilitating pupils who dream of becoming a musician.

In February 2018, through Sending Love to Northern Europe project- we donated 100 musical instruments to Finnish NGOs which support disabled children and refugees living in Syria.

In February 2019, Sending Love to South America- we donated 100 musical instruments to a Colombian school in the slum and those orphans staying in Puericultorio Pérez Araníbar.
