His mother Cheng Hsiu-yu is an angel who takes care of them with patience, persistence and love. In addition to housework, she volunteers in school to help her children and other kids. She protects them 24 hours a day.

Yu-Wei’s destiny is like any other kids with major disease. Yu-Wei cannot live a day without his parents. When his sisters passed away, his parents saddened by the loss and cried all day. They still needed to care for him and the youngest brother. From the unselfish love from his parents, he learned that: One should love his/her life. Never give up easily. Feel blessed and happy by every day living in the world. He deserves to be called “a worrier to fight disease” because of his optimism and excellence in academia achievement.

His persistent effort keeps his grade at top 5 so as to give him confidence to further his education. He hopes to have career in social education.

Although Yu-Wei cannot walk visit and jump like normal people, he likes to read books in humanities, geography, history, biology, technology, articles and magazine. He would temporarily forget about the illness and is inspired by stories on the book. Listening music, using computer, watching movies and games, mountain-climbing with family are his favorite activities.

Yu-We is different from birth. His mission is to fight the disease. For 18 years, he was not discouraged by his destiny. He never complains about his illness. He believes that “People would win over destiny”, the motto when he decided to face every difficulty in life. Yu-Wei said that there is hope as long as he is alive. If he has courage, then he would win the destiny. He would work hard to make contribution to this world even if his life is as short.
